Whisky

Whisky is an alcoholic beverage distilled from malt. The name has evolved from "uisge beatha" (water of life). Whisky is drunk straight, with water or ice, or mixed with other spirits.

Whisky is sold either as single malt or as blended. Single malt whisky comes from only one distillery and is of a uniform age whereas blended whisky is put together from different brands and ages.

When spelled "whisky" it is produced in Scotland or Canada. When spelled "whiskey" it is produced in Ireland or America. For more orthographic considerations, see whiskey.
