Social fiction

Social fiction is a kind of science fiction literature, popular in Poland in 1980s. Books from that genre are based in different time (usually in future) and are dealing with possible development of societies, very often dominated by totalitarian governments. The story is usually pretext for analysing structures of those societies, and are usually full of allusions to reality. Most famous books are by Janusz A. Zajdel (for example, Limes Inferior or Paradyzja).

Social Fiction was a direct reaction to communism, and died by itself when communism collapsed.
