Promontory Point, Utah

Promontory Point is a location in Weber County, Utah, located 32 miles west of Brigham City, Utah and 107 km (60 miles) from Salt Lake City at 41.22.018 N, 112.41.743 W, with an elevation of 1,494 meters (4,902 feet) above sea level.

Promotory Point achieved note as the location where the United States of America's first transcontinental railroad was completed on May 10, 1869.

Promontory Point was the site of a temporary city during and shortly after the construction of the railroad, but this was then dismantled, and since then Promontory Point has had no permanent population.

Since 1957 it has been marked as the Golden Spike National Historic Site.
