Post-Communism

After the fall of Communism in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, many Communist parties in both Eastern and Western Europe reacted by changing their policies, which until then had been much governed by the example of the Soviet Union, and chose a more democratic and less radical course. This led to the post-Communistic parties, which are basically far left-wing Social democratic parties, and are a political power in countries such as Italy, Germany and a number of former communist countries in Central and Eastern Europe.
