New France

New France (French: la Nouvelle-France) describes the area colonized by France in northeastern North America during a period extending from the explorations by Jacques Cartier in 1534 to the loss of the last of the territories to Great Britain in 1763.

The territory included the Saint Lawrence River and Mississippi River valleys and Acadia.

There were six Bishops of New France.
