Memorial Cup

The Memorial Cup is the trophy awarded to the national junior men's (under 21) hockey champion of Canada. It was donated in 1919 by the Ontario Hockey Association[?] as a memorial to the Canadian dead of World War I.

The Memorial Cup tournament is now restricted to members of the Canadian Hockey League – the champions of the Ontario Hockey League, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, and the Western Hockey League, plus a second team from the host league. The American members of the league are eligible to play, and American teams have won the Cup three times.
