Mary, Princess Royal

Victoria Alexandra Alice Mary (April 25, 1897 - March 28, 1965) was the only daughter of King George V and Queen Mary. Born in York Cottage, Sandringham, she married Viscount Lascelles, eldest son of the Earl of Harewood, on February 28, 1922, in Westminster Abbey.

Her husband succeeded his father as 6th Earl of Harewood in 1929. They had two sons—George Henry Hubert Lascelles, who became 7th Earl on his father's death in 1947, and Gerald David Lascelles.

In 1931, following the death of her aunt, Princess Louise, Mary was created Princess Royal, a title which she held until her death.
