"It's My Party" is a song popularized by singer
Lesley Gore in the
1950s. It was written by authors Gold/Gluck Jr./Wiener. The song lyrically portrays the emotional downfall of a teenage girl who is humiliated by the discovery that her boyfriend has left her for another girl.

It's My Party is also one of the first films (
1996) to address the topic of
AIDS patients dying with dignity. Starring some major
Hollywood talent (including
Olivia Newton John,
Margaret Cho,
Bronson Pinchot[?],
Devon Gummersall,
Steve Antin,
Bruce Davison[?],
Gregory Harrison[?] and in the lead,
Eric Roberts[?]) the film chronicled a two day party hosted by Roberts' character who has been given just a short time to live. The character, who will fall into a state of mental lapse for months before his
death, decides instead to host a party for all of his family and friends. At the end of the second day, he intends to commit
suicide by taking sleeping pills, and die in their company.
