Illyrian languages

Illyrian languages are a group of Indo-European languages that are found in the western part of the Balkans. Around 230 BC the languages were romanised. Afterwards they were suppressed by the Slavs in the 7th century. They are known by glossaries and names.

Since less is known about the Illyrian languages than many other ancient tongues, when linguists encounter what they consider anomalies in their data it is considered humorous to blame it on "Illyrian influences".
