Amstelveen

Amstelveen (population: 77,279) is a town in the north-western Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. The municipality covers an area of 42.38 km² (of which 2.13 km² water). It is part of the metropolitan area of Amsterdam.

The municipality of Amstelveen also includes the following towns, villages and townships: Bovenkerk[?], Nes aan de Amstel[?], part of Ouderkerk aan de Amstel[?].

Dutch prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende started his political career as member of the Amstelveen city council.

Amstelveen has a light rail connection with Amsterdam.
